Lansing needs a kick in the pants

People are losing their jobs and their homes while Lansing politicians continually fail to resolve the state's fiscal crisis. The continuing fiscal crisis threatens our schools, police and fire protection, health care and our Great Lakes. It hurts Michigan's economy, threatens our state with bankruptcy, and puts the jobs of hard-working Michigan citizens on the line.

In the real world, when people do not do a job, they don't get paid. Why should Lansing legislators be treated different?

I call on Lansing lawmakers to introduce and immediately pass legislation to suspend their own pay and benefits until they resolve the State's fiscal crisis. Only by putting their own financial security on the line - not just Michigan families – will they find the incentive to work together and act to resolve the State's unprecedented fiscal crisis.
